Topstitching Lapels

Pay particular attention to the stitching detail at the notch where you have a collar and lapel come together. Count the exact number of machine stitches, leave the needle in the work and pivot. Sew the same number of machine stitches on the other side of the notch.

Pull topstitching (or edgestitching) threads to the wrong side. Knot the threads to secure them, then bury topstitching threads between fabric layers using a large-eye needle. Cut off the tails close to the fabric.
